Where, When and Who
01/07/00, rev 00427/08
WHERE ARE WE? We're in Union Pacifics building B-59 SouthWest of the Union Pacific Depot in the Old Town part of Pocatello Idaho. The easiest way to find us is to go SouthWest on the Benton Street overpass. As you cross the tracks, look right toward the Depot. As you descend, we are in the masonry building that you could touch from the overpass if your arm was six feet long, (click for a 61k pix),.
At the bottom of the overpass make a right turn on Main Street and continue two blocks to Bonneville where you make another right that takes you to the Depot front door, (click for a 68k pix). Turn right into the UP parking area and proceed carefully to B-59. To the left, you will have a close-up view of our 12 inch=1 foot scale trains that we keep on display :-)
If you're new to our City, then you first need to find Benton Street. From the North/South freeway I-15, Exit at Center Street and go downhill (SW) on one-way Clark Sreet until you encounter a pair of one-way cross streets. Turn left on the second one, Fourth Ave. Travel five blocks (SE) where you'll find Benton Street- Turn right (SW).
The Pocatello City web site has a map of the city but it's a huge file and probably not practical unless you have broadband connection.
You are now on private property of the Union Pacific Railroad. Please respect it and stay in the parking area away from the tracks. Don't jeopordize our tenancy or your safety.
WHEN? Regular meeting nights are Wednesday, at 7:00 PM. You might find club members working there at other times, but it'd be best to make prior arrangements for a visit. The PMRHS has open house on the third Saturday of each month from 10 'til 2 or as long as we're having fun. During the Thanksgiving to Christmas time, We are usually open each Saturday.
CAN I RUN MY HO TRAINS ON THE PMRHS LAYOUT?
- On regular meeting nights we try to accomodate visitors to help them troubleshoot their model railroad equipment. Locos can only be bench tested unless they are equipped with Digital Command Control (DCC). .
- Not on business meeting night, the last Wednesday.
- Not on open house days, the third Saturday unless special prior arrangements have been made. Everything operating on that day is pretested for reliability to insure a pleasurable experience for our visitors and to allow us freedom to visit with you.
WHO? Here's a list of numbers, one of which ought to reach one of the retired old-timers that lounge around home instead of actively contributing to the Social Security system. We won't post the names in order to frustrate the telemarketers :-) The area code is 208-
233-4829, 237-1780, 237-0962, 234-4817
