Our Experience
Energy and Environment
Performed:
- Research, development, and testing of a Passive
Fuel Delivery System under the Bulk Liquid Project for the U.S. Marine
Corps. Supported the Physical Optics Corporation in the development of Fuzzy
Logic Adaptive Genetic Algorithm Software Engine for Advanced Environmental
Monitoring and Clean-up Technologies.
- Testing and evaluation of an ion-exchange/filter
developed by "Eco-GEJZER"
Joint-Stock Company of St. Petersburg, Russia for removing radionuclides,
lead, and other heavy metals in industrial wastewater. GTI organized and
conducted an engineering project to demonstrate this technology at the
Berkeley pit in Butte, Montana under the DOE Resource Recovery Program.
- Independent review and assessment pertaining to
DOE Spent Nuclear Fuel monitoring and characterization instrumentation and
engineering systems.
Provided:
- GTI has designed, is building and testing a
portable Detection of Enriched Uranium (DEU) system to quantitatively
measure the U-235 enrichment in Training, Research, and Isotope General
Atomics (TRIGA) spent nuclear fuel elements. The design was developed
by using the Monte Carlo N-Particle Transport Code System (MCNP4B2) to
optimize the measurement performance. In order to mimic the change in
isotopic composition of the SNF as a function of irradiation in a TRIGA
reactor, the Oak Ridge Isotope Generation and Depletion Code (ORIGEN2) was
selected. The ORIGEN2 outputs were used to determine TRIGA fuel
isotopic inventories that were used within MCNP4B2 to represent the burnup
of the TRIGA fuel. The purpose of the DEU measurement system is to
verify declarations of U-235 enrichment for the return of the spent nuclear
fuel to the U.S. Department of Energy.
- Data analysis in support of Northern Ada County
PM10 Residential Wood Combustion Survey.
- Technical services and support for the
development and modification of the following commercially available
instruments: Dose Measurement Detector; Nuclear Material Identification
System; Gamma-Ray Imaging Detector; Cache and Void Detector Radar;
Microchannel Plate Gamma-Ray Detector; Active X-Ray Fluorescence
Detector/Imager.
