Securities
News, information, education, and data for all types of investments
are readily available on the Web. In fact, so readily available
that information is duplicated over and over and over again with
the only original content being analysis and commentary. Thus
where you research and track investments primarily depends upon
individual preference.
- Stock information
is perhaps the most commonly available. Quotes, charts, company
research, index information, earnings estimates and reports,
IPOs, etc... are all covered extensively. Of the sites included
in this listing, my favorites are BigCharts
and Briefing.com.
- Futures and options aren't
covered as extensively (or redundantly) but the information is
out there. Try The Chicago Board of
Options Exchange.
- Mutual funds are a popular
topic though the sites devoted to them, on the whole, don't seem
to have as much information as the sites that cover mutual funds
in addition to other types of securities. Morningstar
is unique in that is has reading material rather than lots of
raw data.
- Bonds of all types are
covered in a variety of locations. Fitch
IBCA has a great interface with lots of information.
- CDs aren't very popular
just now--little wonder! Still for those of use who like a very
safe, fixed income security once in awhile BanxQuote
is there to provide quotes around the country and in your neighborhood.

Marketwatch is an excellent research and information site.
The list of choices is almost bewildering.The
Syndicate also provides a good mix of securities information
with excellent educational
content.
