Infant Mitt

...A little bag to catch those fingers!

YARN: Sport weight acrylic (sample in Plymouth Encore Worsted Weight)

NEEDLES: 1(2) sets size 3 DPNs

GAUGE: 5 sts & 6 rows to 1" (approximate)

RIBBING:
CO (cable or double-stranded) 24 sts. Divide evenly among 3 needles. Join, taking care not to twist.
*K2,P2* for 15 to 20 RDS (number RDS dictated by preference/pattern)

MITT BODY:
K (garter or st st, plain or pattern) 16 RDS.


DECREASES:
RND 1: K1, SSK, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1
RND 2: Knit (Purl for garter mitt)
Alternate RDS until (3; 3; 3--9 sts total) remain.
Knit next 3 stitches to same needle; 2 needles remain--6 stitches per needle.

***TIP: Decreases are always one stitch in from the beginning or end of a needle. A decrease at the beginning of a needle will be K1, SSK and a decrease at the end of a needle will be K2tog, K1.***


GRAFTING/CAST OFF:
Cut yarn and thread onto yarn/blunt needle.
Pull through all stitches on needles, removing needles as you go.

Bring yarn ends to inside, finish and remove.
Shape by hand, pulling ribbing lengthwise and mitt widthwise to round out mitt.
