Blackford's Beauty Quilt

A queen sized (98" by 112") quilt for my guest room picked from 101 Fabulous Rotary-Cut Quilts by Judy Hopkins and Nancy J. Martin.

The quilt as pictured in the (excellent!) book:

The fabrics I'm going to use.

Obviously I've messed with the colors a bit. The stars will be yellow, the background green, the chains dark blue, and the star point extensions in the pansy print. All of the fabrics are from the Aurora Sewing Center, where Arlene B. (Clarence location) was instrumental (and indispensable) in the choosing.

As I haven't yet started to piece the top I don't have pictures of the work in progress. However, you can see the quilted throw I made to help pick the final colors. Also, keeping checking the site as I'll post new pictures as I work on the quilt.

As recommended by Kathy (at the Aurora Sewing Center), I'm going to use the Flying Geese X 4 No Math Ruler to make some of the block components. While I haven't tried it yet I've read the directions and am sure that it will make the process simpler.

Here's the room the quilt will go in:
