Seasonal Door Hanging Instructions

Supplies:

13" by 11" Onasburg (Weaver's Cloth)

18" Rattail Cording

Thread

Stabilizer

6" by 3/4" Cardboard

1. Fold and iron 1/2" to wrong side on each edge of Onasburg rectangle. Repeat, pressing under another 1". (Total hem = 1.5") Open out last fold at corners and fold in a miter.

2. Set up sewing machine for a medium width, medium length zig zag stitch. (Stitch Width = 3mm, Stitch Length = 2mm). Using an edgestitch foot, secure hem edge from wrong side such that zig zag stitch straddles folded hem edge.

3. Embroider as desired. (HINT: For very dense designs first back fabric with a fusible interfacing. This will help prevent the relatively loose weave of the Onasburg from shifting and/or puckering.)

4. Insert cardboard strip into hem at upper edge. The folded (but not stitched) miters will allow this.

5. Make a single overhand knot at each end of rattail cording. Place one knot into miter at one top corner and secure with a few handstitches. Repeat on other top corner with other end of cording.
