Lesson 4, checking the card contents:
1. Turn the scanner on and touch "Card Contents". Following the directions on-screen make sure that your blank card is in slot 2 and touch OK. A screen should appear with a small box with a picture at the upper left, one or more numbers followed by percentages down the left side of the screen, and a percentage at the lower right.
2. If you only have one design on your card the number 1 will appear with a percentage next to it; if you have multiple designs there will be multiple numbers and percentages. The percentages represent the percentage of the total memory on the card that each design takes. The percentage at the lower right of the screen represents the percentage of the total memory on the card that is unused. The total of all the percentages on the screen should sum to 99 or 100%.
3. You'll notice that the number 1 is highlighted. This means that the little picture at the upper left of the screen is design number one. To look at the other designs (if there are any) use the scroll arrows at right.
4. Find your heart design by scrolling until its picture appears. (It will be the last design on the card unless you've scanned something more recently).
5. Touch "Check Color". This function allows you to preview the number of colors in the design and the stitching order. Touching it once should bring up the fill area of the heart and the fraction 1/2 (color 1 of 2). Touching it a second time should bring up the outline and the faction 2/2 (color 2 of 2). Touching it a third time will take you back to the original "picture". This function is a useful way to double check the quality of your scan before stitching. Sometimes a scanning artifact (e.g., a little dot that wasn't on the scan sheet but that the scanner picked up) will appear when you check the colors even though it didn't appear as you scanned the design. If you check the colors before stitching then you can elect to re-scan the design instead of stitching it out and being unhappy.
6. Any design on the card can be deleted by selecting the design using the arrow keys and then touching "Delete A Design". Once you press "OK" you -cannot- get the design back so be sure you mean this.
7. When you're done leave the card contents screen by touching "Exit This Function". If you have deleted a design from the card it will take a few moments for the card to be updated.
