Easy Scanner Lesson #5

Lesson 5, combining designs in the Edit mode:

1. Turn on scanner and touch "Edit". The Edit screen will appear and give three choices. In order to bring in (import) the scanned heart touch "Pattern". A Pattern is any embroidery design that has not been specifically designated as an alphabet. Alphabets include things like the lettering built into the scanner and the fonts on Card #1, the monogram card, and the cross stitch card.

2. After touching "Pattern" make sure your "blank" card is in slot 2. Slot 2 is a read/write slot whereas Slot 1 is a read-only slot. As after we import the design into the edit screen and work with it we will want to save a copy of our work to the blank card it's easier in the long run to put the blank card (the only one you can write on) in slot 2. Clear as mud, right? At any rate put the "blank" card into slot 2 and then touch "Card 2".

3. Use the scroll arrows to select the heart design and then press "Enter" to confirm the choice. Then chose the size of heart (large, medium, or small) you wish to work with.

4. The heart design (actually a copy of it) appears in the center edit screen. Use the arrows to position it as you'd like (I'd recommend moving it to the left or right of center). Then touch "End". The heart will be repositionable at any time up until you save the new design and leave the Edit mode so don't worry if you didn't get it just the way you wanted it.

5. Import another copy of the heart into the Edit screen by following steps 1 to 4. Position it wherever you'd like in relation to the other heart. Keep in mind that if you overlap them the stitching will actually overlap, which may be good or bad.

6. To fine tune the position of your hearts touch "Modify". Use the arrow keys to select the heart you wish to work with and then touch "Enter" to confirm the choice. The heart can then be moved, rotated in 90 degree increments, or deleted. Do as you please to make the design what you'd like it to be. You may even want to import another heart or combine different sizes of hearts. Do, however, leave some room to add lettering.

7. Once you are pleased with the positioning of your hearts touch "Exit This Function" if necessary (if you're still in the Modify subscreen). DO NOT touch "Exit The Editing"! (Though if you do this by mistake you will be prompted to save your work.) Then touch "Save" and follow the on-screen directions. You may wish to then "Exit The Editing" and the view your Card Contents.
