Q. How big should I make the sling? Q. How do I make a doll sling? |
|
A. The finished sling is at least 20" wide, or 10" when folded to put on. Length at the longest point of the curve for different sizes is roughly: XS=25", S=27", M=29", L=31", XL=33" Most people have success measuring with the method described in the instructions, but not everyone. Use the above numbers for refrence or for making a sling for someone else. Making the sling exactly the length that feels best for you is more comfortable than using the size number, since so much depends on your height, how long your waist is etc. which "size" doesn't always account for. If you are making your first sling, I suggest you baste and try on the sling before doing the French seam to make sure it feels perfect to you. The doll sling is made like the regular baby sling, only the width is 10" or 5" folded. Children often like their slings plenty long and the pockets plenty deep so they can fit more stuff in there :)
